Equilibrium in Being

I have just enjoyed being at Uluru for several days and relaxing into the desert experience there - the heat of the sun at the great heart centre and the cool of the water in the Resort swimming pool. What I contemplate now is the difference between doing and being.

We are often driven by timelines and project goals but what about equilibrium? What about ‘being with’ what we are doing as well as making time for simply being? When I relax, I allow space for higher inspiration to present; when I merely work my rational brain harder, I often just increase the level of stress I experience.

Much like the so called “news” - when I engage in what they present, I can get caught up in the ‘drama’ of their very narrow selection of focus. When I take the time to ‘be’ with what is, I get to experience something of the awe and wonder of the whole.

In “The Art of Happiness” the Dalai Lama is quoted as saying “the ultimate solution to our conflicts, both internal and external, lies in returning to our basic or underlying human nature, which is gentle and compassionate.”

It certainly takes practice, but practicing a healthy activity is far better in the long run than falling into unhealthy habits. Better to cultivate a way that leads to increasing inner peace rather than forever adding even more stress.

In the quiet times I find my balance again. I hope you allow yourself that time and space also.
