Relaxing into Being
My question today is how to fully trust a process while working towards a positive outcome. To let go of ‘fears and control’ and instead to contribute to its creation through a ‘process of allowing’.
In many aspects of our work and life we are endeavouring to create a preferred outcome. Often we strive so hard and with so much focus that we overload and need a way to release or manage the excess stress.
This can be especially true in letting go of mental stress. If we work on our mind with our mind then there is the likelihood of simply putting more mind into the mix. We need to find an effective way to give the mind a rest and to allow it the space it needs to rejuvenate. Much like the physical body when it has over performed. Various ways of achieving this include meditation, relaxation, play and laughter which promote a ‘letting go’.
The mind itself is unable to worry and laugh at the same time, so time spent in laughing is time spent in not worrying. Giving the mind a distraction can also assist it to let go of baggage and to re-establish an equilibrium which is essential to wellbeing.
The mind loves nothing more than acquiring more information and knowledge, but sometimes it just needs to rest. To be in a state of peace. The cultivating of this ‘space’ also allows the ‘higher mind’ to present insights which have difficulty being heard in a mind that thinks itself to be master of the show. The practise of play also allows the hemispheres of the mind to balance out and allows the non-logical aspects of the mind to come more into play. This allows for greater creativity which is also an essential element in doing things better rather than doing them the same way they have always been done.
As Einstein commented “You can never solve a problem on the level on which it was created”
So free your mind; give it space – and have a laugh, or a smile; or go within - and see what higher ideas present.
Wishing you well – and a warm smile on a cold day.
